![]() ![]() I would most likely do this job using a pair of matched "V" blocks. ![]() Have also considered grooving out an aluminum plate to hold the screw and then mounting that to the table.Īny thoughts on a better or easier way anybody? Doing this seems to be practical except for the issue of clamping without damaging the screw. I have thought about clamping the screw in one of the table slots and then repositioning the universal table on the vertical saddle to finish the cut. I also must be able to hold the screw securely without damaging the threads. The screw is longer than the universal table so it can't be held on centers. I don't have a saw that will make the cut in one pass. Also the keyway cutter that I have is just just the right size for a one pass cut. Either way I'll need to clamp the screw securely and be able to reposition accurately since the table travel is about 10 inches and the slot is about 15. I can use my other FP1 to do this with either a slotting saw on the horizontal arbor or with a keyway cutter in the vertical head. I had threads ground into a rod and now need to cut the groove into the shaft for the power feed keyway.
